# About Aftertale

Aftertale is an app of short stories for adults, for iPhone and iPad. A new story arrives every evening, chosen from the kinds you like, to read on the page or hear performed by a full cast.

## What it is

Each story takes ten to fifteen minutes, stands on its own, and ends before you fall asleep. You pick the genres and moods you like and the time you like to wind down: Romance, Mystery & Thriller, Fantasy & Romantasy, Sci-Fi, Horror, Feel-good & Cozy, and Bedtime. Tonight’s story is waiting at that time, with a quiet reminder.

It’s made for the minutes before sleep, like bedtime stories for adults, and it works just as well on a commute. Read it, listen with the lights off, or start on the page and tap Listen From Here on any paragraph: the cast picks up where your eyes were.

## How the stories are made

Stories and voices are made with AI and reviewed by the Aftertale team before they’re published. Each story is written with AI to a brief, checked against the content rules below, and then read by a person, who approves it or turns it down. Stories that don’t make it never reach the app.

Then the story is performed. Every character has their own AI voice, and a narrator carries the story between them, so the lines are acted rather than read: a whisper, a laugh, a pause before someone answers. Every story’s credits say the voices are AI, and no voice is ever presented as a human narrator.

## What the stories won’t do

Aftertale is for adults and rated 16+. Romance fades to black. Horror builds dread without gore. No story involves real people or sexual violence, and every character in a romance is clearly an adult. If a story ever falls short of that, write to [support@aftertale.app](mailto:support@aftertale.app) and it will be looked at.

## Who makes it

Aftertale is made independently by Paulo Pereira, in Portugal. You can reach him at [support@aftertale.app](mailto:support@aftertale.app); the [contact page](https://aftertale.app/contact) has what to write about.

## Where it is now

Aftertale is in its last stretch before App Store review, and there isn’t a date to promise yet. The launch stories are being written, performed and reviewed now. At launch it will be in English, on iPhone and iPad with iOS or iPadOS 26 or later, by subscription through the App Store.
